eAviation & Drone Academy is located at the Hampton Roads Executive Airport and centrally located within the Hampton Roads region in Chesapeake, Virginia. Our Academy's location is ideal for the emerging electric air & unmanned vehicle industry with the airport already at the forefront of UAS and VTOL operations in the region. Our facility offers state-of-the-art classroom, training, airspace and amenities required to conduct our world-class drone training curriculum.
Hampton Roads Executive Airport (KPVG) is a public use, privately owned airport and home to dozens of airport-related businesses operating on-site. KPVG ranks in the top 4 in the state for economic activity and job creation for general aviation, non-towered airports. Located less than a mile from the 64/664/264 interchange, KPVG is only minutes from downtown Newport News, Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.
The Airport provides corporate hangar buildings located on the west side of the main entrance and terminal area.
The contemporary terminal building will be home to the eAviation & Drone Academy. Students will enter the building and walk into a spacious lobby featuring vast glass windows, great for air traffic viewing. Within this building there is a large conference room which will serve as the main classroom, office space for staff, equipment storage space, and a computer lab for student use.
Drones can be flown inside in one of the hangers on-site, or outside. There is a drone flight range of 5 acres on the west end of the Airport governed under a standard operating protocol (SOP). There is 664 total acres to operate within.
BVLOS Range
eAviation & Drone Academy plans on becoming a test site for Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) and has the space to carry this out. Adjacent to the property at the Hampton Roads Executive Airport, there is a 15-20 mile (112, 000 acres) stretch of land with no development which is well suited to becoming a BVLOS Range.
